We are working on multiplication. I want my students to understand that multiplication is repeated addition. It would help if you worked on memorizing the multiplication fact up to the 9Xs. It is not required but it makes problem solving easier. The final list spelling test is on Friday. We will be on the computer during Language class today working on our friendly letter. I will not blog tomorrow because I am attending a workshop.

In Reading intervention we are rading Time for Kids magazine. The students enjoy the current events articles. I assigned 12 spelling sentences for homework. My students have to compse 12 sentences. Five sentences must be questions and contain nine words. The other seven sentences should be statements or comands. They also must contain at least nine words. I chose the first 12 words on the list. I will attend a workshop on Thursday. 9/29/11.

Sorry I did not post yesterday. I was out of my classroom this morning to attend a meeting. I will be in a meeting Monday morning and all day on 9/29/2011. I don't like being gone but the district requres me to go to certain meetings. I will send home the new spelling list tonight. That will be the only homework. Happy Weekend!

I forgot to post yesteday. I was struggling with it being Monday and having a Senior moment. My students are working on composing a friendly letter. in Language class. In spelling we have started sentence dictation. I won't give a test in sentence dictation this week . Have your child study the list words in Spelling. During Reading class we are reading a chapter book. We do this after every ten lessons and the mastery test.

I will be giving a Math test next week . Watch the agenda for the test date. Happy Friday!!!

My students will have their final spelling list test tomorrow-List 3 words. I will pass out list 4 words so you can start studying the new words. We will start sentence dictation on Monday. I forgot to give the kids bonus words this week. Look for a mid term report tomorrow.

 The 4th grade Science test is comong up soon. Make sure your child is reviewing their flashcards and notes at hime. My Language students will have their final L-3 spelling list test on Friday. Enjoy the weather cooling off.

Make sure your child studies their spelling list every night. I will give the final test on Friday. Next week I will introduce sentence dictation. In Language we are still filling out the personal data sheet at least three times a week. Look for sheets in their take home folders. I wanted to let you know that this is a wonderful group of boys that I am working with this year. I don't have any girls this year. Your boys are very polite and a joy to be around.

9/12/11

All of the fourth grade students attended an assembly about autism. The autism expert from PERANDOE gave the presentation. There are several students in our district that are autistic so it is important that our students understand autism. Spelling Homework-10 sentences The sentences have to contain at least 8 words and only two sentences can start with the word "I". Four of the sentences must be questions. In math we are working on patterns and place value. It won't be long and I will test over chapter 1. Midterm grades will go out on Friday.

Getting Started

Sorry that it has taken so long for me to get info. up and running. On Monday, 9/12/11 we will start unit 3 spelling. Your child should bring home a new list this weekend. I usually don't give homework on the weekend. We are working on writing a personal narrative in Language class. During reading intervention which is now called WIN we are working daily on reading fluency. Most kids don't enjoy reading a passage several times but with practice reading should get easier.
